Sept. 10, 2010

$522,145.00 of Seized and Awarded Narcotics Currency was Distributed among the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office and Local law Enforcement Agency's

A presentation of Equitable Sharing checks totaling more than $522,000.00 was held in the Administrative Offices of the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.

Captain Rodney Glendening with the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force took great pleasure in presenting Sheriff Milton Wright and Chief Deputy Craig Brady along with the following Law Enforcement Agency's:  Houston HIDTA Office, Pasadena Police Department, La Porte Police Department, Houston Police Department,  Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Rosenberg Police Department, Missouri City Police Department, District Attorneys Office, Army National Guard, Department of Public Safety and the Harris County Sheriff's Office with checks totaling $522,145.00.

These awards are the proceeds of assets forfeited and seized by the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force, a Houston HIDTA Initiative (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area), as the result of drug trafficking investigation conducted with area Drug Agents that concluded in July of 2010.

Sheriff Milton Wright comments, "In receiving these awards it demonstrates a strong collaborate effort amongst our local Law Enforcement Agencies and the District Attorney's Office.  The forfeited money will be used to provide additional training and equipment as well as provides funding which is used to pay expenses necessary in the day to day operation of the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force."

The Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force is a partnership of various local law enforcement agencies here in Fort Bend County in conjunction with the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office who recognized that a special collaborative effort was necessary to better combat the drug distribution and collection of drug proceeds throughout the area. As a part of its effort to dismantle these criminal organizations, forfeiture of profits and seizure of assets from these illegal organizations is vital.
