While it was a relatively quiet holiday weekend for most families, area police kept quite busy making sure roads were safe for the traveling public.

After publicizing a drunk driving crackdown, officers still managed to arrest 14 motorists for Driving While Intoxicated - five in Webster, six in Friendswood and three in League City.

Another 30 residents of Webster, League City and Friendswood also were taken to jail on Public Intoxication charges and seven were picked up on drug charges.
