CORPUS CHRISTI - A check of 127 registered sex offenders led to more than five dozen arrested locally in a joint police operation that began about six weeks ago, officials said in a news conference Friday.

"Registered sex offenders are a hot button, and the community expects us to make sure they comply," Sheriff Jim Kaelin said.
